Meta Business Partner Access Setup
SOP: Meta Business Partner Access Setup
Section titled “SOP: Meta Business Partner Access Setup”Last Updated: 2026-07-08
Owner: Paid Ads Specialist
Status: Draft, Needs Review
This SOP covers how Tekton gets proper Meta/Facebook access for a client without asking for personal Facebook passwords. The client shares their business assets with Tekton Growth - Main as a partner in Meta Business Suite, then Tekton assigns the right people inside our own business portfolio.
Use this when a client is starting Facebook or Instagram ads, when Tekton takes over an existing ad account, or when Meta says Tekton is a partner but Nick or the media buyer still cannot use the Page, ad account, Instagram account, pixel/dataset, or lead forms.
Important: partner access has two layers. The client sharing assets with Tekton gives access to Tekton’s business portfolio. It does not automatically give Nick, the media buyer, or any other Tekton user access. Tekton must assign its people to the shared client assets after the client-side sharing is complete.
Tekton agency details:
- Meta Business Portfolio: Tekton Growth - Main
- Tekton Meta Business ID:

Who owns it
Section titled “Who owns it”Paid Ads Specialist owns the access setup, verification, and internal user assignment.
Supporting roles:
- CSM: sends the client access instructions, confirms who has admin control, and follows up until access is granted.
- Nick / Ops Lead: approves unusual ownership setups, agency-owned ad account exceptions, or client-side access issues that require escalation.
- GoHighLevel Specialist: verifies lead-form access and GHL lead routing after Meta access is working.
1. Confirm who controls the client’s Meta assets
Section titled “1. Confirm who controls the client’s Meta assets”Before asking the client to click around Meta, confirm these items:
- Client Facebook Page URL.
- Instagram handle, if ads will use Instagram.
- Existing Meta Business Suite / Business Portfolio owner.
- Existing ad account ID, if known.
- Whether the client has an active payment method in the ad account.
- Who personally has full admin control of the Facebook Page and Business Portfolio.
- Whether another agency is already connected.
If the client does not know who owns the Page or Business Portfolio, stop and resolve ownership first. Do not ask for personal Facebook passwords.
2. Send the client the partner access instructions
Section titled “2. Send the client the partner access instructions”Send the client the generated Meta Access Instructions doc from their Drive folder, or give them these steps:
- Go to
https://business.facebook.com/settings. - Make sure they are inside the correct business portfolio for their company.
- In the left menu, go to Users > Partners.
- Click Add.
- Choose Give a partner access to your assets.
- Enter Tekton’s Meta Business ID:
931517591336391. - Select the assets Tekton needs:
- Facebook Page
- Instagram account, if connected
- Ad account
- Pixel/dataset, if already installed
- Lead forms or Page lead access, if Instant Forms will be used
- Grant task access needed to manage ads, leads, and reporting.
- Save the changes.
Official Meta reference: Give a partner access to business assets
Client-safe language:
Tekton does not need your personal Facebook password. The safest setup is to add Tekton Growth as a partner inside Meta Business Suite so access can be granted, limited, or removed by your business at any time.
3. Verify partner access landed inside Tekton
Section titled “3. Verify partner access landed inside Tekton”Inside Tekton’s Meta Business Settings, confirm:
- The client’s business appears as a partner/client connection.
- The Facebook Page is shared with Tekton.
- The ad account is shared with Tekton.
- The Instagram account is shared with Tekton, if needed.
- The pixel/dataset is shared with Tekton, if needed.
- Lead form or Page lead access is available, if Instant Forms will be used.
If Tekton appears as a partner but the ad account or Page is missing, the client did not share the specific asset. Send them back to the asset selection step.
4. Assign Tekton people to the shared client assets
Section titled “4. Assign Tekton people to the shared client assets”This is the step that is easy to miss.
After the client shares assets with Tekton, assign the actual Tekton users who need to work the account:
- Open Tekton Growth - Main in Meta Business Settings.
- Go to the shared client assets.
- Assign Nick to the needed assets.
- Assign the media buyer to the needed assets.
- Assign any backup operator only if they truly need access.
Minimum user assignments:
- Facebook Page: Nick + media buyer.
- Ad account: Nick + media buyer.
- Instagram account: Nick + media buyer when ads use IG identity.
- Pixel/dataset: media buyer + whoever verifies tracking.
- Lead forms/Page lead access: media buyer + GHL specialist when needed.
Do not assume business-level partner access is enough. If the user is not assigned to the shared asset inside Tekton’s business portfolio, they may see nothing or be unable to make changes.
5. Test access from the actual operator accounts
Section titled “5. Test access from the actual operator accounts”Have the assigned users confirm they can access the working surfaces:
- Nick can open the client Page asset.
- Media buyer can open the client ad account in Ads Manager.
- Media buyer can see the correct Page and Instagram identity while creating an ad.
- Media buyer can see the pixel/dataset if tracking is needed.
- Lead forms are visible if Instant Forms are being used.
- GHL specialist can verify or map the correct Page/form if lead routing is needed.
Do not mark access complete until the person who will actually build/manage the ads confirms they can work inside the account.
6. Troubleshoot common failure points
Section titled “6. Troubleshoot common failure points”If access still does not work, check these in order:
- Wrong business portfolio: the client may have multiple Meta business portfolios and shared the wrong one.
- Wrong asset shared: Tekton may be a partner, but the Page or ad account was not selected.
- Tekton users not assigned: client-side sharing landed, but Nick/media buyer were not assigned inside Tekton.
- Insufficient task access: the asset is visible but cannot be edited or used for ads.
- Ad account disabled/restricted: access is correct, but Meta is blocking spend or edits.
- Payment method missing: ad account exists but cannot launch.
- Instagram not connected: Page access works but IG identity is unavailable.
- Lead form access missing: ads can be built, but Instant Form or GHL lead routing cannot be tested.
- Old agency clutter: prior partner/user access may confuse ownership or asset selection.
Escalate to Nick/Ops if ownership is unclear, the client cannot identify the admin, the ad account is restricted, or Tekton would need to use an agency-owned ad account as a workaround.
7. Record the final access status
Section titled “7. Record the final access status”Once complete, record the access status in the client onboarding notes or project record:
Meta partner access complete.Client shared: Facebook Page, ad account, Instagram, pixel/dataset, lead forms.Tekton assigned: Nick, media buyer, [other user if any].Verified by: [name]Date verified: [date]Open blockers: [none / list]Definition of done
Section titled “Definition of done”Meta access is complete when:
- Client has shared the required assets with Tekton Growth - Main using Business Partner access.
- Tekton’s Meta Business ID
931517591336391was used. - Nick and the media buyer are assigned to the shared client assets inside Tekton’s business portfolio.
- The media buyer can open the correct ad account and create/edit the campaign assets needed for launch.
- Page, Instagram, ad account, pixel/dataset, and lead-form access are verified for the actual campaign path.
- Billing/payment blockers are either cleared or documented.
- GHL lead routing can be tested if Instant Forms are part of the campaign.
- Access status is documented in the client project record.
No Facebook or Instagram campaign should be launched until this access setup is verified and Nick/Ops has approved launch, budget, and campaign status changes.
